Description
Summary:This study examines the key economic factors influencing open innovation (INN) in Vietnam, with a particular focus on gross domestic product (GDP) growth, foreign direct investment (FDI), export (EXP) performance, and research and development (R&D) expenditure. Using annual secondary data from the World Bank (WB) spanning 2000–2020, the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model is applied to capture both short-term dynamics and long-term interrelationships. The results reveal that GDP growth and FDI inflows significantly positively affect INN in the long run, while R&D expenditure plays a vital role in driving innovation in the short term. EXP growth also contributes positively, although its effect appears more variable. Based on these empirical results, the study provides policy recommendations to foster a supportive environment for INN, emphasizing the demand for integrated strategies that align economic growth (EG), foreign investment, and domestic innovation capacity.
