Summary:The areas of Geography and Health have been approaching and giving space to a field of interdisciplinary nature called Health Geography. Yet, it is still incipient the insertion of health topics in the teaching of Geography, especially at the basic level. Based on this premise, the work objective was to carry out a didactic sequence that discussed urban health issues in geography classes at a primary school in Olinda city, Brazil. By a qualitative approach, the case study was developed through the participant research technique. Thus, a didactic sequence was elaborate related the geographic knowledge with the problematic of health in the city. Theoretical classes, field activities, mental mapping workshops and evaluation discussions of the teaching strategies used were carried out. The results showed that the students were sensitize and stimulated to better understand the living conditions of the place they inhabit and the possibilities of changing that place with a view to health promotion actions.
