| Summary: | <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: " lang="EN-US">Ectatomma is a conspicuous genus of hunting ants (Formicidae: Ponerinae) with about 12 endemic species in continental tropical America. </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: ">Eight species are reported here for Colombia: E. goninion,</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: " lang="EN-US"> E. opaciventre (first record in Colombia). E. lugens, E. edentatum, E. quadridens, E. tuberculatum and E. ruidum, broadly distributed in the lowlands. Un like other ponerine ants Eetatomma includes species with a broad variation in ecological behavior, foraging strategies, and diet, which could account for their abundance and importance throughout the country.</span></p><br> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: ">Uno de los géneros más comunes de hormigas cazadoras (Formicidae: Ponerinae) es <em>Ectatomma, </em>con unas 12 especies edémicas de América tropical continental. En Colombia se registran 8 especies: E. <em>goninion, </em>E. <em>opaciventre </em>(primer registro para el país), E. <em>lugens,</em> E. <em>edentatum, </em>E. <em>quadridens, </em>E. <em>tuberculatum </em>y E. <em>ruidum, </em>ampliamente distribuidas en todas las tierras bajas.
