Summary: | In addition to his academic contributions, Alfred Sohn-Rethel published several essays whose common feature turns out to be their brevity. These texts are structurally similar to Walter Benjamin’s “images of thought”, but unlike them, they have not yet been closely analysed. Analysis shows that they all deal with disturbances, irritations, unexpected incidents occurring in the social world—something that is hardly taken into account in Sohn-Rethel’s theoretical writings on the laws governing modern societies. |
