Summary:The characteristics of natural ecological and socio-economic conditions of Tsogttsetsii and Khanbogd sums (South Gobi region of Mongolia) are considered; interrelations of socio-economic conditions and ecological state are analysed, general and individual ecological problems of the sums are outlined. As a result of the research, strong pollution of soil and water resources was detected, which is a consequence of anthropogenic pressure and natural traits of the territories.
