| description | This article aims at understanding what becomes of young people leaving care, by examining the processes by which they enter adulthood, what obstacles they face, how they behave and how they understand their actions. It conceptualizes the end of care as the moment when young people's life is transformed with respect to the three transitions - housing, employment or education and family - that define emerging adulthood. For this research, a number of adolescents have been interviewed and a network questionnaire passed twice : before their end of care, and six to eight months after. The results discuss the challenges and stakes that youth face when they come out of care. |
