Description
Summary:In this article, we present a method for validating non-formal and informal learning (VNIL) that allows evaluators to develop, over time, a specific evaluation skill set based on a stable collective memory. In order to train instructors in their new tasks as VNIL evaluators, the method’s designers planned for moments where participants could talk and exchange, thereby favouring a collective work analysis that focused on developing judgments through use of this method. Working with the transcriptions of these collective discussions, we observed how the evaluators analyzed their new occupational experience and related issues. The dialogue between the evaluators allowed them to identify and stabilize several challenges and to be aware of the choices leading to their final decisions. The exchanges thus gave rise to new resources and inventions that were nourished as much by experienced evaluators as by novices.
