Description
Summary:The emergence of increasingly powerful Machine Translation (MT) Tools in universities should lead all members of the academic community to reconsider their pedagogical implications. An initial study, conducted on learners’ perceptions and use of these tools, revealed that students lack training. To have a better understanding of teachers’ perceptions on MT tools, a survey was carried among language teachers in the Lansod (Languages for specialists of other disciplines) sector. The analysis of the results revealed trends related to the knowledge of these tools and information on how they are integrated into teaching practices. The data also show how teachers perceive machine translation, and they highlight a kind of uncertainty about the future of language teaching in the era of machine translation.
