Summary:As the key to the construction of high dams,backfilling in front of the dam and filling of the foundation pit have an important impact on the stress state of key parts of the dam body,such as the dam heel and gallery arch.Therefore,this paper studies the response of dam heel and gallery arch before and after backfill and foundation pit filling of a high dam in Southwest China based on the monitoring data and simulation analysis.The results show that under the combined effect of weight,temperature and hydrostatic pressure,due to the influence of the backfill in front of the dam and the water filling height of the foundation pit,the tensile stress produces at the dam heel,and the compressive stress increases along the river at the gallery arch,with the maximum increment of 1.24 MPa.Thus,the tensile stress of the gallery arch is weakened and the stress state of the high dam is optimized,which can be further verified through the comparison with monitoring data.
