| Summary: | The article analyzes modern approaches to teaching academic writing in English and provides recommendations for improving the effectiveness of teaching this discipline at higher educational institutions. The relevance of the study is driven by the growing need for high-quality academic writing in both educational and professional contexts, as well as the challenges that arise in the process of teaching and learning this skill. The aim of the article is to identify the main problems faced by teachers and students and to propose effective solutions. The research methods include literature analysis, surveys of teachers and students, as well as observation of the teaching process. The study examines key issues such as students’ lack of motivation, the absence of clear evaluation standards, the inadequacy of teaching materials, and the varying levels of student preparedness. It was found that lack of motivation is one of the key obstacles to effectively acquiring academic writing skills. The study reveals that teaching academic writing in English can be improved by introducing innovative approaches. These include developing interactive educational materials, standardizing evaluation criteria, providing regular teacher training, and integrating academic writing with other disciplines. The proposed recommendations include the implementation of process, genre, and integrative approaches to teaching, the use of modern technologies, group work, systematic peer review, and the development of self-editing skills. These measures will contribute to enhancing the quality of students’ academic writing and preparing them for successful academic and professional careers. |
