Summary: | Background Aim The study aimed to create a Kannada version of the Pelvic Girdle Questionnaire PGQ a validated tool for assessing the quality of life in women experiencing pelvic girdle pain during the prenatal and postnatal periods. The goal was to ensure that the Kannada version PGQ-K maintained the same level of validity as the original questionnaire.Methods This study involves Beatonrsquos guidelines in the six-step format for translation and linguistic validation of the PGQ from English to Kannada.Results The Cronbachs Alpha coefficient for the Kannada version of PGQ was found to be 0.814 indicating high internal consistency. Categorically the internal consistency for the activity subscale 1-20 was 0.860 while that of the symptoms subscale 21-25 was 0.804.Conclusion The PGQ-Kannada is a reliable and valid tool with high internal consistency for assessing disability resulting from pelvic girdle pain in gravid women. The PGQ-Kannada is designed to support research and clinical practice on pelvic girdle pain PGP in Karnataka aiming to enhance the well-being of pregnant and postpartum women. This study has therefore focused on translating and validating the PGQ into Kannada. |
