description Based on the data of the sociological survey “Status of the Profession of a Teacher” conducted in the territory of Kemerovo Region since 2010, the authors analyze dynamics of the ideas of the region’s teachers about the status of their profession and elements that make up this status, determine the interrelation between the perception of the professional status by the teachers and their professional satisfaction, correlate the teachers’ opinions about the status oftheir profession with ideas of the general public to identify the social status of teachers, forecast changes, assess staff risks, obtain ideas about how professional and territorial mobility will be developed. Objective information about the social status of teachers obtained as a result of the survey of the teachers’ professional status makes it possible to take well-grounded managerial decisions and receive timely feedback on the measures already implemented.
