Description
Summary:This study explores the determinants of green procurement practices in public procurement management in Tanzania. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research applied descriptive and multiple linear regression analyses to data from 200 public procurement officers and practitioners. The results indicate that the adoption of green procurement practices remains low, primarily due to limited awareness, insufficient budget allocation, lack of incentives, and the unavailability of eco-friendly products. Significant determinants include awareness, knowledge, budget allocation, and incentives, while the availability of environmental products did not significantly influence the practices. The study underscores the importance of enhancing awareness and providing financial support. It recommends that the Tanzanian government invest in capacity building through training and education for procurement practitioners, increase budget allocations, and introduce incentives to encourage the adoption of green procurement practices. These efforts are essential to improve the implementation of sustainable procurement processes in public procurement management.
