Summary: | The article deals with the formation of prefixes pod- and nad- attenuative meaning in the Russian language of the 11th-17th centuries and defines the functional and stylistic coloring of the verbs with this meaning and their origin on the basis of certain criteria. It has been found out that primary meaning of prefixes pod- and nad- is the spatial one, which later developed into secondary intensive meaning via rethinking, metaphorizing of the primary meaning as a result of interaction with verbs of producing base. |
