| Summary: | The investigations on physiology and biochemistry in cotyledons of 1-7 d cucumber seedlings showed that the starch contents in cotyledons decreased gradually and the soluble sugar contents in 1-6 d cucumber seedlings increased quickly then sharply declined, the activity of POD and the contents of soluble proteins in 1-5 d cucumber seedlings increased quickly then sharply declined too. a low molecular weight polypeptide was disappeared in cotyledons of 6, 7 d cucumber seedlings. The contents of DNA was invariable but the contents of RNA and RNA/DNA increased quickly in 1-5 d cucumber seedlings then sharply declined. It was considered that the carbon frame and the amino acids were needed for the differentiation of floral buds in cucumber seedlings and the physiology and biochemistry changes of cotyledons in the developmental stage was correlated to the differentiation of floral buds in cucumber seedlings. |
