Summary:Nanotechnology is a multidisciplinary field that involves the manipulation and control of matter at the nanoscale, typically ranging from 1 to 100 nm. Nanomedicine integrates nanotechnology with medicine to develop novel approaches for targeted drug delivery, imaging, sensing, and regenerative medicine. By utilizing nanoparticles and nanostructures, scientists and researchers are able to enhance the efficacy and specificity of therapeutics, improve diagnostic capabilities, and revolutionize healthcare. Nanodentistry utilizes nanoparticles and nanodevices for targeted drug delivery, continuous oral health maintenance, and preventive and restorative dentistry. This article is an overview that highlights the role of nanotechnology in dentistry.
