Summary:Through the evolution, many diseases affected humans and many cures were obtained from nature. Traditional medicine recommends numerous plants and their constituents to enhance cognitive function as well as relief from depression, memory loss, and other symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. A common problem in ethnopharmacological studies is identifying diseases from old records, either because the local culture describes the condition differently, or because the disease is unknown at that time. This is especially true at Alzheimer’s, which as a disease was identified late, thus relevant symptoms have to be identified when searching the literature like plants used in maintenance of language ability, symptoms of forgetfulness, dementia.
