Summary: | Through the evolution, many diseases affected humans and many cures were obtained from nature.
Traditional medicine recommends numerous plants and their constituents to enhance cognitive function as well as relief from
depression, memory loss, and other symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.
A common problem in ethnopharmacological studies is identifying diseases from old records, either because the local culture describes
the condition differently, or because the disease is unknown at that time. This is especially true at Alzheimer’s, which as a disease was
identified late, thus relevant symptoms have to be identified when searching the literature like plants used in maintenance of language
ability, symptoms of forgetfulness, dementia.
In this manuscript, we review a subset of herbs used traditionally in Ayurveda, that supports traditional use in neurodegenerative or
memory related disorders for treatment of Alzheimer’s |
