Estimating Body Related Soft Biometric Traits in Video Frames by Olasimbo Ayodeji Arigbabu, Sharifah Mumtazah Syed Ahmad, Wan Azizun Wan Adnan, Salman Yussof, Vahab Iranmanesh, Fahad Layth Malallah

    Published 2014-01-01
“…This paper presents an approach for estimating body related soft biometrics; specifically we propose a new approach based on body measurement and artificial neural network for predicting body weight of subjects and incorporate the existing technique on single view metrology for height estimation in videos with low frame rate. Our evaluation on 1120 frame sets of 80 subjects from a newly compiled dataset shows that the mentioned soft biometric information of human subjects can be adequately predicted from set of frames.…”

Damage Concentration Effect of Multistory Buckling-Restrained Braced Frames by Hanqin Wang, Yulong Feng, Jing Wu, Qing Jiang, Xun Chong

    Published 2019-01-01
“…Two comparisons of the DCE are performed for different types of structures and different beam-to-column connections in the main frame (MF). These comparisons show that BRBFs equipped with BRBs as the main earthquake resistance system have a more serious DCE than the traditional moment-resisting frame or conventional braced frame and that the MF stiffness significantly affects the structural residual displacement and DCE. …”

Improved RIP Conditions for Compressed Sensing with Coherent Tight Frames by Yao Wang, Jianjun Wang

    Published 2017-01-01
“…This paper establishes new sufficient conditions on the restricted isometry property (RIP) for compressed sensing with coherent tight frames. One of our main results shows that the RIP (adapted to D) condition δk+θk,k<1 guarantees the stable recovery of all signals that are nearly k-sparse in terms of a coherent tight frame D via the l1-analysis method, which improves the existing ones in the literature.…”
