Investigation of the Thermal Performance of Energy Tunnel Equipped with the Insulation Layer Considering Ventilation and Groundwater Seepage by Guozhu Zhang, Ziming Cao, Xu Zhao, Yongli Xie, Xiaohua Liu, Shiding Cao

    Published 2021-01-01
“…The model tests were performed in this study to evaluate the heat transfer potential of the energy tunnel with the insulation layer under ventilation and groundwater seepage. The results can be obtained as follows: first, the fluctuations of air temperature and surrounding rock temperature at different locations are relevant to insulation layer, ventilation, and groundwater seepage. …”

Hydraulic-Hydrology Analysis of the Turbulent Seepage Flow within Karst Aquifer of the Golubinka Spring Catchment by Goran Lončar, Željko Šreng, Damir Bekić, Duška Kunštek

    Published 2018-01-01
“…The model yielded suitable turbulent seepage coefficients of the fracture system. By using the numerical model KarstMod it was estimated that, on average, concentrated fracture flow drains around 85% of infiltrated volumes and the remaining 15% accounts for diffuse matrix flow. …”

Stability Analysis of Partially Submerged Landslide with the Consideration of the Relationship between Porewater Pressure and Seepage Force by Yang Wang, Le Yu, Tianci Yin, Lanbing Yu, Zhitao Huo

    Published 2018-01-01
“…For partially submerged landslides, hydrostatic and hydrodynamic pressures, related to water level fluctuation and rainfall, are usually expressed in the form of porewater pressure, seepage force, and buoyancy. There are some connections among them, but it is very easy to confuse one force with another. …”

Study on Structure and Seepage Control Safety of Second-Phase Cofferdam in Datengxia Water Conservancy Project by ZUO Yongzhen, CHEN Liang, XU Han, LI Bo, CHEN Jinsong

    Published 2023-01-01
“…The second-phase earth-rock cofferdam in the Datengxia Water Conservancy Project is one of the most important temporary buildings, and its design and construction reflect major key technologies of the Datengxia Water Conservancy Project. In order to ensure the safety of the second-phase deepwater cofferdam project,a special scientific research demonstration was conducted on the structure and seepage control safety of the second-phase deepwater cofferdam. In view of the difficulty in determining the density of the cofferdam formed by deepwater dumping and the feasibility of the anti-seepage system with a single anti-seepage wall connected to the geomembrane, experimental research was carried out through the centrifugal model test,so as to determine the underwater dumping density and angle of repose, the mechanical characteristics of cofferdam filler, the shear characteristics of the interface between filler and plastic concrete, and the characteristics of plastic concrete materials. The finite element analysis of stress deformation and the seepage stability analysis of the cofferdam were carried out,and the safety analysis evaluation and the section optimization design of the cofferdam were performed. The second-phase cofferdam has undergone two flood seasons of safe water retention operation, with a small total seepage flow, slight maximum settlement, and low horizontal displacement. The scientific research work has well supported the design requirements.…”
