Moloch en expansion by Agnès Bouvier

    Published 2009-01-01

Guard Dogs to Protect Sheep Grazing in Fenced Pastures Against Wolf: a New and Still Challenging Practice by Baptiste Potet, Charles-Henri Moulin, Michel Meuret

    Published 2021-06-01
“…Predation by wolves affects all livestock farming systems, including those having different batches of animals being simultaneously grazed in distinct and sometimes distant fenced pastures scattered over a landscape. In the absence of a responsible human herding and watching over his flock or herd, livestock protection by the sole combination of fences and guard dogs is a new practice in France, that has not yet received much attention in public policy recommendations. …”

Energy Saving in Data Processing and Communication Systems by Giuseppe Iazeolla, Alessandra Pieroni

    Published 2014-01-01
“…Dp systems are also used in the government of Tlc systems, which, besides requiring Dp electrical power, also require Tlc-specific power, both for mobile networks (with their cell-phone towers and associated subsystems: base stations, subscriber stations, switching nodes, etc.) and for wired networks (with their routers, gateways, switches, etc.). ICT research is thus expected to investigate into methods to reduce Dp- and Tlc-specific power consumption. …”

Planning approach of survivable fiber-wireless broadband access network by Hongjun TAN, Yamin XIE, Yejun LIU

    Published 2016-05-01
“…The emerging fiber-wireless(FiWi)broadband access network provides not only the new technological references for flexible broadband access anywhere and anytime, but also the research opportunities for the cost-efficient design of survivable broadband access network. The study of survivable FiWi access network planning was focused on,and an approach of survivable network planning based on wireless-rerouting protection was proposed. When any fiber link cuts, the failed optical network unit(ONU)can transfer its traffic into other normal ONUs.Solving the joint optimization problem of wireless routers placement, backup radios configuration and ONU capacity allocation was put more importance on,aiming to fully protect all traffic with the minimum deployment cost. The method of integer linear programming was employed to obtain the optimal solution for small-scale network planning. The heuristic algorithm was also proposed for the large-scale network planning.Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in reducing network deployment cost.…”

Spam filtering algorithm based on geographic E-mail path analysis by ZHANG Ni1, JIANG Yu2, FANG Bin-xing1, LI Guo1

    Published 2007-01-01
“…A geographic E-mail path based algorithm called GEPA(geographic E-mail path analysis) was proposed to al-low network administrators to cut off spam traffic on E-mail delivery. The algorithm first extracted route information to build E-mail path subset, and then uesed an effective method mapping IP addresses or domain names of nodes in an E-mail path into geographic information.Further, the algorithm detected spam by their geographic information deviation, using E-mail traffics from a link of backbone border router in China, which crosses the country boundary of China, the performance of GEPA algorithm is evaluated. The experimental results indicated that a 13.9% reduction of E-mail can be achieved with method. The results also showed GEPA was effective and practical which can be implemented in a mas-sive traffic environment handling over millions of mails every day with small memory consumption.…”
