Management of Rett Syndrome in the Controlled Multisensory (Snoezelen) Environment. A Review with Three Case Stories by Meir Lotan

    Published 2006-01-01
“…Many of these individuals with RS show fear of movement and, therefore, find it hard to accept external facilitation (so common in physical therapy intervention). In a search for novel intervention techniques that might improve their ability to cope with difficulties in daily situations, while also reducing their difficulty in handling motion inflicted by an external physical facilitator, we examined the use of the Snoezelen room. …”

Hardy, Galileo and the Art of Transgression by Nathalie Bantz-Gaszczak

    Published 2014-06-01
“…It seems that for Hardy, eager to be more ‘sincere’ than what decorum and ‘the censorship of prudery’ permitted, short stories and poems were literary forms that allowed more elbow room than novels: ‘If Galileo had said in verse that the world moved, the inquisition might have let him alone’.…”

A Low-Field Temperature Dependent EPR Signal in Terraced MgO:Mn2+ Nanoparticles: An Enhanced Zeeman Splitting in the Wide-Bandgap Oxide by Peter V. Pikhitsa, Sukbyung Chae, Seungha Shin, Mansoo Choi

    Published 2017-01-01
“…Beside the well-known hyperfine sextet of Mn2+ ions in the cubic crystal field of MgO, an additional EPR feature with a striking nonmonotonous temperature dependent shift of the g-factor is observed in terraced nanoparticles in the temperature range from 4 K to room temperature. By linking the difference in the temperature dependence of the Mn2+ sextet intensity in cubic and terraced nanoparticles with the possible s-d exchange shift and enhanced Zeeman splitting we conclude that the novel EPR feature originates from the loosely trapped charge-compensating carriers at the abundant structural defects at the surface of terraced nanoparticles due to their exchange interaction with neighboring Mn2+ ions.…”
