“…Classical information theory shows that separate source-channel coding is asymptotically optimal over a point-to-point channel.As modern communication systems are becoming more sensitive to delays and bandwidth,it becomes difficult to adopt the assumption that such separate designs have unlimited computing power for encoding and decoding.Compared to joint source-channel coding,separate coding has proven to be sub-optimal when the bandwidth is limited.However,conventional joint source-channel coding schemes require complicated design.In contrast,data-driven deep learning brings new designing ideas into the paradigm.A summary of relevant research results was provided,which will help to clarify the way in which deep learning methods solve the joint source-channel coding problem and to provide an overviewof new research directions.Source compression schemes and end-to-end communication system models were firstly introduced,both based on deep learning,then two kinds of joint coding designs under different types of source,and potential problems of joint source-channel coding based on deep learning and possible future research directions were introduced.…”

A novel chaotic interleaving algorithm for mobile wireless channels by Xianping WANG, Hui CAO

“…Interleaving technique is an efficient technique to resist serious burst errors over mobile wireless fading channels.To resist 2 dimensionality burst errors effectively,a novel chaotic interleaving algorithm based on Baker map was proposed.In the proposed scheme,the binary source sequence was converted to the data matrix,and then the data matrix was dispersed randomly by using the chaotic Baker map approach,in order to realize the function of transforming 2 dimensionality long bust error into the short 1 dimensionality short bust error after de-interleaving.In additional,the proposed algorithm was combined with the convolution code based on Viterbi decoding,and was applied into the scenario of convolutional codes (2,1,3) and the scenario of (2,1,7) separately for a performance comparison.The simulation results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm outperforms better than the traditional algorithms under image transmission over mobile wireless channel.Moreover,the anti-fading capability of the proposed algorithm grows as the packet length increases,while reducing the complexity significantly.Finally,the chaotic interleaver can also enhance every transmitted packet's security with different secret keys.…”

“…In view of the high computational complexity in spatial pulse position modulation systems when using maximum likelihood detection algorithm, a step-by-step classification detection algorithm based on K-means clustering was proposed according to the characteristics of signal matrix with spatial pulse position modulation.The signal vector detection algorithm was utilized to detect the index of light source in the training samples.The on K-means clustering algorithm was utilized to acquire the mapping rule between centroid of samples and modulated symbol by offline training.Subsequently, online detection of modulated symbols was achieved based on the mapping rule, and then the index of light sources was detected by exhaustive search.In addition, Monte Carlo method was used to investigate the effects of key parameters such as the number of clusters and initialization times on the system bit error rate (BER) performance.Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can achieve an approximate BER performance as the maximum likelihood algorithm on the basis of greatly reducing the computational complexity.Compared with the linear decoding algorithms, the proposed algorithm is also applicable to scenarios where the number of detectors is less than the number of light sources.…”
