“…Based on the insights gained through my own teaching and that of others who participated in a roundtable discussion on the topic at the 4th Annual Conference on Immigration to the Southeast: Policy Analysis, Conflict Management (Kennesaw State University, October 2012), this essay uses current research about pedagogical best practices to argue that we should teach courses about immigration that are problem-based and interdisciplinary and include some combination of civic engagement, service learning, and faculty-student research.
