Study on Heat Transfer of Fluid in a Porous Media by VOF Method with Fractal Reconstruction by Shuai Liu, Qingyong Zhu, Wenjun Xu

    Published 2025-07-01
“…Through numerical simulation, the influence of the evaporation coefficient on the flow and heat transfer rate can be determined. Key findings from numerical simulations reveal the following: (1) Heat transfer rates decrease with increasing fractal dimension (surface complexity) and evaporation coefficient; (2) As the thermal Rayleigh number increases, the influence of the Marangoni number on heat transfer diminishes; (3) The coupling of buoyancy and Marangoni effects in porous media with complex evaporation surfaces significantly alters flow and heat transfer patterns compared to smooth-surfaced porous media. …”

Macroevolutionary processes in turtles (Testudines): a view from biomic specialization and historical climatic changes by Juan S. Thomas, Sara Gamboa, Manuel Hernández Fernández, Manuel Hernández Fernández, Oscar Murillo, Jonathan S. Pelegrin

    Published 2024-12-01
“…Vrba suggests that lineages display varying tendencies toward generalism or specialization in biome occupancy, with a tendency towards the accumulation of specialists due to their higher rate of speciation through vicariance. It also posits differences in biome occupancy patterns driven by the environmental characteristics of biomes, with a higher presence of biome specialist species in biomes that are placed in the extremes of the global climatic gradients. …”

Ultrasound Stimulations Induce Prolonged Depolarization and Fast Action Potentials in Leech Neurons by Francesca Dedola, Francesco Paolo Ulloa Severino, Nicolo Meneghetti, Theo Lemaire, Andrea Cafarelli, Leonardo Ricotti, Arianna Menciassi, Annarita Cutrone, Alberto Mazzoni, Silvestro Micera

    Published 2020-01-01
“…Moreover, we found that APs induced by US differ in smaller amplitude and faster repolarization from those induced by electrical stimulation in the same cell but display the same repolarization rate. Conclusions: These results shed light on the mechanism by which spikes are induced by US and pave the way for designing more efficient US stimulation patterns.…”
