Two sets of bias-corrected regional UK Climate Projections 2018 (UKCP18) of temperature, precipitation and potential evapotranspiration for Great Britain
Published 2025-05-01“…The change factor method was used as a benchmark for precipitation, and we show that it fails to capture changes in a range of variables, making it inadequate for most impact assessments. By comparing the differences between the two bias-correction methods and within the 12 ensemble members, we show that the uncertainty in future precipitation and temperature changes stemming from the climate model parameterization far outweighs the uncertainty introduced by selecting one of these two bias-correction methods. …”

Uptake of fucosylated type I human milk oligosaccharide blocks by Bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis
Published 2025-08-01“…ABSTRACT Human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) are uniquely rich in the type 1 building block disaccharide lacto-N-biose I (LNB; Galβ1,3GlcNAc), as compared to other mammals. Most HMOs are fucosylated, for example, α1,2 and α1,4 fucosylations on LNB blocks, resulting in H type 1 (H1) and Lewis a (Lea) epitopes, respectively. …”

Strain promoted azide alkyne cycloaddition, an efficient surface functionalization strategy for microRNA magnetic separation
Published 2025-01-01“…The strain-promoted azide alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC click chemistry) proved to be the most efficient functionalization strategy. Optimization of the complementary DNA grafting protocol, carried out by varying the ratios between the quantities of dibenzocyclooctyne groups and DNA and between the quantities of DNA and MNP, revealed on the one hand that the quantity of DNA grafted per nanoparticle could be finely controlled, and on the other hand that the grafting on the MNP’s surface of an excessive quantity of dibenzocyclooctyne groups led to a reduction in grafting yields. …”

The first myriapod genome sequence reveals conservative arthropod gene content and genome organisation in the centipede Strigamia maritima.
Published 2014-11-01“…For some genes S. maritima has evolved paralogues to generate coding sequence diversity, where insects use alternate splicing. This is most striking for the Dscam gene, which in Drosophila generates more than 100,000 alternate splice forms, but in S. maritima is encoded by over 100 paralogues. …”

Inter-cluster and intra-cluster flow distribution and proppant allocation in deep coalbed methane orientation fracturing
Published 2025-02-01“…Field applications in the eastern margin of the Ordos Basin for deep CBM have shown that orientation perforating yields higher gas production than conventional spiral perforating, with the “fan shape down + horizontal direction (240° pattern)” orientation perforating showing the most significant increasing in gas production. It is recommended that deep CBM reservoir stimulation be designed based on the position of the well trajectory within the coal seam (especially its relative position to bright coal), implementing a “one-cluster one-policy” perforating design to induce directional fracture initiation, targeted communication with the “geological-engineering” sweet spots, and achieve the stimulation objectives of “directed guidance, taper design, uniform proppant placement and effective support”. …”

CRYPTO-RESISTANT METHODS AND RANDOM NUMBER GENERATORS IN INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT) DEVICES
Published 2022-06-01“…The analysis of technologies and circuit solutions allowed to draw the following conclusions: protection of IoT solutions includes: security of IoT network nodes and their connection to the cloud using secure protocols, ensuring confidentiality, authenticity and integrity of IoT data by cryptographic methods, attack analysis and network cryptographic stability; the initial basis for the protection of IoT solutions is the true randomness of the formed RNG sequences and used in algorithms for cryptographic transformation of information to protect it; feature of IoT devices is their heterogeneity and geographical distribution, limited computing resources and power supply, small size; The most effective (reduce power consumption and increase the generation rate) for use in IoT devices are RNG exclusively on a digital basis, which implements a three-stage process: the initial digital circuit, normalizer and random number flow generator; Autonomous Boolean networks (ABN) allow to create RNG with unique characteristics: the received numbers are really random, high speed – the number can be received in one measure, the minimum power consumption, miniature, high (up to 3 GHz) throughput of Boolean chaos; a promising area of ABN development is the use of optical logic valves for the construction of optical ABN with a bandwidth of up to 14 GHz; the classification of known classes of RNG attacks includes: direct cryptanalytic attacks, attacks based on input data, attacks based on the disclosure of the internal state of RNG, correlation attacks and special attacks; statistical test packages to evaluate RNG sequences have some limitations or shortcomings and do not replace cryptanalysis; Comparison of cryptoaccelerators with cryptographic transformation software shows their significant advantages: for AES block encryption algorithm, speeds increase by 10-20 times in 8/16-bit cryptoaccelerators and 150 times in 32-bit, growth hashing of SHA-256 in 32-bit cryptoaccelerators more than 100 times, and for the NMAS algorithm - up to 500 times. …”
