Simulation-Based Connected and Automated Vehicle Models on Highway Sections: A Literature Review
Published 2019-01-01“…The review results offer new insights for future intelligent-vehicle analyses: (i) the increase in the market-penetration rate of intelligent vehicles has a significant impact on traffic flow conditions; (ii) without vehicle connections, such as the ACC vehicles, the roadway-capacity increase would be marginal; (iii) none of the parameters in the AV or CAV models is calibrated by the actual field data; (iv) both longitudinal and lateral movements of intelligent vehicles can reduce energy consumption and environmental costs compared to human-driven vehicles; (v) research gap exists in studying the car-following models for newly developed intelligent vehicles; and (vi) the estimated impacts are not converted into a unified metric (i.e., welfare economic impact on users or society) which is essential to evaluate intelligent vehicles from an overall societal perspective.…”

FSProtoTransfer: Synergizing Few-Shot, Prototypical Networks, and Transfer Learning for Intrusion Detection in VANETs
Published 2025-05-01“…However, traditional ML/DL models rely heavily on large, labeled datasets for training, which are both costly and time-consuming to obtain. The challenge is further compounded by class imbalance within datasets, which skews the model's learning toward majority classes, leading to poor detection of attacks from minority classes. …”

Where to cool off: a geospatial framework for placement of cooling centers
Published 2025-12-01“…Although air conditioning (AC) is recommended for maintaining indoor thermal comfort, low- and medium-income households in the U.S. often do not own an AC and/or limit AC usage to reduce energy consumption and associated costs, thereby risking their health and safety. With the frequency and intensity of heatwaves increasing, cooling centers are considered an appropriate alternative to indoor cooling and a possible mitigation strategy to prevent adverse health impacts of heat exposure. …”
