Health of Fish Communities in the Lower Reaches of the Dongjiang River by MA Zhuoluo, HU Lianghe, JIANG Renfei, WANG Sai

    Published 2023-01-01
“…Dongjiang River is an important water source and ecological corridor in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.Understanding the health of fish communities in the lower reaches of this river is vital for the water ecological protection of the basin. This paper investigates the fish in the lower reaches of the Dongjiang River, and the abundance index (dM) and Shannon Weiner index (H′) are selected to evaluate the community health, and the relationship between them and water quality factors is explored. The results show that there are 7 orders,19 families,43 genera, and 50 species of fish found in the lower reaches of this river,of which Cypriniformes is the largest and Perciformes is the second, with 10 species of exotic fish. There is a significant or extremely significant negative correlation between the health of fish communities and water pollution factors such as CODCr,BOD5,and TP,indicating that water pollution affects the health of fish communities. The river encroachment, rigid transformation, and the construction of gate and dam facilities disrupting habitats have also adversely influenced fish communities.Exotic fish have been found in most sampling sites and are more dominant in polluted rivers. It is necessary to develop scientific management strategies and measures from various aspects, including improving river water quality, restoring the diversity and connectivity of fish habitats, and strengthening the management and prevention of exotic fish. …”

Treatment Project Design for Weakly Saline Water Bodies in Desert Parks and Practice by FENG Yu, ZHANG Wenlei, XU Yufeng, ZHANG Huajun

    Published 2022-01-01
“…The eutrophication control of a saline park water body in the Inner Mongolia Plateau is conducted by constructing a complete aquatic ecosystem.Acid-alkali adjustment of this water body is carried out to build aquatic plant and animal communities in the lake body, and functional bacterial agents are also supplemented to build and restore microbial communities. Moreover, the stable development of the ecosystem is guaranteed by on-site maintenance measures. The project effect shows that the aquatic ecosystem remains stable after its successful construction, with a clear water body that offers a favorable pollutant removal effect and main water quality indexes significantly better than those before treatment.Specifically, the pH of the water body decreases from 9.09 to 8.75,and the turbidity is lowered from 20.5 NTU to 4.0 NTU.Regarding transparency,it reaches more than 1.5 m at the deepest part of the water body,or even a clear bottom is achieved. The total phosphorus concentration decreases from 0.19 mg/L to 0.03 mg/L,and the CODCr concentration is reduced from 109.5 mg/L to 17.0 mg/L.In addition, aquatic animal biomass and the number of species of aquatic animals increase significantly. The above results indicate that the water quality improvement target is achieved. The aquatic ecosystem after treatment with maintenance measures can resist external disturbance to a certain extent, and the implementation of this project can provide a reference for the treatment of saline lakes in plateau areas.…”

Study on the Construction Plan of Countryside Type Ecological Belt Based on Ecological Orientation:Taking the Ecological Restoration of Ecological Belt of Chunzi River in Longgang... by TANG Yawen, LIU Xuepeng, HUANG Yilong, YU Yuanyan, LUO yao

    Published 2021-01-01
“…Ecological belt,is the innovative practice of ecological civilization in Guangdong province, the idea and interpretation of happy rivers and lakes, and the product of water management to a certain stage. In order to explore the methods and approaches of ecological restoration in the construction of ecological belt, taking the ecological belt of Chunzi River in Longgang District,Shenzhen as an example, this paper investigates and monitors the water environment and water ecology of Chunzi River in detail by means of field investigation and experimental analysis, and proposes systematically the water ecological restoration scheme in ecological belt construction according to the theory of focal species. The results indicate that:①Through analyzing the structure and diversity indices of aquatic organisms, the water bodies are in a moderate to heavy pollution state, and higher aquatic organisms are dominated by exotic fishes. The aquatic ecosystem is severely damaged;while the terrestrial ecosystem is less disturbed.②The sewage treatment plant (with effluent water quality reaching the ready class III) — integrated constructed wetland-reservoir water quality purification system, the habitat improvement system of optimized forest structure in mountain-waterfront-shallow,and the symbiotic stable ecosystem of “submerged plants-floating-leaved plants-emergent plants-zooplankton-fish” are put forward, and a water ecology pattern of conservation-recreation-protection is built.③In the future, combined with the implementation of the project, continuous monitoring of water environment and water ecology will be carried out,and restoration scheme will be optimized and improved,so as to provide Shenzhen sample for the construction of ecological belt in Guangdong Province.…”
