Evaluating the Impacts of Discharging the Effluent of Al-Gabal Al-Asfar Wastewater Treatment Plant on Ismailia Canal in Egypt to Maximize Revenue and Ensure Sustainability by Marwa M Aly, Mohamed SM Zayed, Mahmoud S Salem, Mohamed K Mostafa

    Published 2025-02-01
“…This study seeks to examine the impact of directly releasing the treated wastewater from Al-Gabal Al-Asfar WWTP into Ismailia Canal, Egypt, and evaluate how the discharged water affects the water quality and quantity of Ismailia Canal. The HECRAS 1D model is employed to model water quantity, whereas the QUAL2K model is applied to assess the water quality parameters including dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total phosphorus (TP), nitrate nitrogen (NO 3 -N), and ammonium (NH 4 -N). …”

Analysis of Current State of SWAT Model Research Based on Bibliometrics by DU Bailin, WU Lei

    Published 2023-01-01
“…In order to gain insights into the latest advancements, focal areas, and future directions in SWAT model research, this paper conducted a bibliometric analysis of its applications in eco-hydrological modeling by using the Web of ScienceTM core database and the VOSviewer visualization software. The findings reveal that from 2000 to 2022,there has been a general increase in publications related to the SWAT model.Research efforts have primarily concentrated on three main areas:firstly, the hydrological simulation applications of the SWAT model to enhance scientific water resource management;secondly, investigations into the mechanisms of hydrological responses to climate and human activities, offering theoretical support for flood disaster prediction and response;lastly, studies on water quality simulation and optimal management strategies, providing theoretical foundations for the prevention and control of agricultural non-point source pollution. The distribution of research teams has shifted from concentrated to more dispersed.Future SWAT research will prominently focus on water resource management, hydrological response processes, and water quality simulation.…”

Impact of Rapid Urbanization on Shenzhen Water Environment by JIANG Yu, ZHANG Qiuying, LI Fadong, HU Jiangling, LI Caole, WANG Fan

    Published 2023-01-01
“…The water environment of Shenzhen Bay,one of the key waters in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area,is mainly influenced by the urbanization of the surrounding areas.Water resource protection and water environment governance are particularly important for Shenzhen,a water-deficient city. This paper explores the specific influence relationship between each factor and the water environment in the process of urbanization. The comprehensive water pollution index and Pearson correlation analysis are utilized to analyze the relationship of the changes in population size and industrial structure with the water environment of Shenzhen Bay in urbanization. The research shows that the main pollutants in the water environment of Shenzhen Bay are chemical oxygen demand (COD) and ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N),and some pollutants come from urban non-point source pollution. The water quality in Nanshan District is good, while that in Futian District is poor, but the overall water quality shows a trend of improvement. The water environment is less affected by population change and more affected by industrial structure change. Therefore, formulating reasonable policies to guide the transformation of the industrial structure is an effective way to improve the water environment of Shenzhen Bay.…”
