Statistical modeling based fast rate estimation algorithm for VVC
Published 2022-12-01“…To reduce the coding complexity of the rate-distortion optimization process of the latest video coding standard versatile video coding (VVC), a fast rate estimation model based on statistical modeling was proposed.Firstly, the quantization behavior in dependent quantization (DQ) and the context dependency in entropy coding were fully considered.Features that could describe context state transition in the coding process were proposed to estimate rate of some synatax elements in a TU preliminarily.Secondly, coefficient chaos and sparsity features were proposed to distinguish the influence of coefficient distribution difference on the rate cost based on the coefficient distribution characteristics which built a TU level rate model.Finally, large-size transform unit (TU) and small-size TU was modeling respectively according to the rate composition character to achieve more accurate rate estimation.A large number of parameters were trained by regression model through statistical methods, and the final linear rate model was obtained which was applied to the mode decision.Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve 16.289% complexity reduction with 1.567% BD-BR increase for RA configuration.…”

Fast inter prediction algorithm applied in quality SVC
Published 2011-01-01“…Based on the characteristics of quality scalable video coding,a fast inter encoding algorithm was proposed on the enhancement layer for the medium-grain quality scalability(MGS).Firstly,based on the base layer macroblock mode and rate-distortion,the order of the coding mode for the current macro block was proposed.Then based on the encode structure,the correlation between layers,and the spatial correlation,desicions for the Direct coding mode,layer mode,and adjacent mode were proposed,respectively.Finally,the macroblocks were encoded in the order predicted,with the proposed three decisions to improve on the coding speed by early termination.The experimental results show that the computational complexity of the algorithm is reduced by 68% on the average compared to that of the standard method,with only negligible coding loss and bit-rate increase.…”

Robust video watermarking algorithm for H.264/AVC based on texture feature

Efficient cross-component prediction for H.266/VVC based on lightweight fully connected networks

Fast QTMT partition decision based on deep learning
Published 2021-04-01“…Compared with the predecessor standards, versatile video coding (VVC) significantly improves compression efficiency by a quadtree with nested multi-type tree (QTMT) structure but at the expense of extremely high coding complexity.To reduce the coding complexity of VVC, a fast QTMT partition method was proposed based on deep learning.Firstly, an attention-asymmetric convolutional neural network was proposed to predict the probability of partition modes.Then, the fast decision of partition modes based on the threshold was proposed.Finally, the cost of coding performance and time was proposed to obtain the optimal threshold, and the threshold decision method was proposed.Experimental results at different levels show that the proposed method achieves an average time saving of 48.62%/52.93%/62.01% with the negligible BDBR of 1.05%/1.33%/2.38%.Such results demonstrate that the proposed method significantly outperforms other state-of-the-art methods.…”
