A Mathematical Model for the Flow Resistance and the Related Hydrodynamic Dispersion Induced by River Dunes
Published 2013-01-01“…The proposed expression, obtained by combining the balance of momentum referred to the control volume whose longitudinal dimension coincides with the dune wavelength and the energy balance integrated between its extreme sections, was tested by comparison with some laboratory experimental measurements available in the literature and referred to steady flow past fixed, variably rough bedforms. In terms of shear stress or friction factor, the proposed theory provides estimates in good agreement with the real data, especially if evaluated against the performances provided by other classical similar approaches. …”

Experimental and Numerical Simulation Study of Water Infiltration Impact on Soil-Pile Interaction in Expansive Soil
Published 2024-01-01“…From the numerical simulation model, hygroscopic strain arises as a result of elevated moisture levels resulting from the entry of water, and due to ground heave and the mobilization of lateral soil swelling, the shear stress at the interface between the soil and the pile gradually increases over time. …”

Forecasting of Surface Currents via Correcting Wind Stress with Assimilation of High-Frequency Radar Data in a Three-Dimensional Model
Published 2016-01-01“…Having developed a “good” water circulation model the authors sought to improve its forecasting ability through correcting wind shear stress boundary conditions. The differences in surface velocity components between HF radar measurements and model output were calculated and used to correct surface shear stresses. …”

Utilization of TiN and the Texture of Bionic Pangolin Scales to Improve the Wear Resistance of Cast Steel 20Mn Metal
Published 2025-01-01“…This can be chiefly attributed to the significant effects of the modified surface in augmenting hardness, diminishing the contact area of the friction surface, lowering shear stress, and entrapping wear debris. When the pangolin texture and TiN coating work in concert, the abrasive and fatigue wear between the two surfaces is conspicuously mitigated, and the friction coefficient is reduced by 38.09%. …”

Floor Disturbance and Failure Characteristics of Super-Large Mining Height Working Face
Published 2022-01-01“…The reason for the smaller failure zone of the floor of the super large mining height working face is that the falling roof inhibits the pressure relief of the floor, the large mining height reduces the advance pressure, and the shear stress of the floor decreases. The research methods and findings are of great significance to the prediction of floor failure and water inrush in working face with a super-large mining height, the prevention and control of water disasters in coal seam roof and the monitoring of mine pressure.…”
