MINERAL FORMATION CONDITIONS IN ACID MAGMATIC SYSTEMS RELATED TO THE FORMATION OF MASSIVE SULFIDE DEPOSITS OF THE URALS AND ALTAI-SAYANY AREA by V.A. Simonov, V.V. Maslennikov, A.V. Kotlyarov

    Published 2021-12-01
“…The features of rare and rare earth element patterns in melt inclusions in quartz indicate the similarity of acid magmatic systems of massive sulfide deposits in the Urals and Altai-Sayany region with present-day suprasubduction melts in the ocean-continent transition zones. Computational modeling using data on melt inclusions in quartz confirms our previous conclusions (Simonov, Maslennikov, 2020) that the occurrence of contrasting (basic and felsic) volcanic complexes with massive sulfide deposits in the Urals and Altai-Sayany region is a result of evolution of basaltoid magmas.…”

Synergy Effects of the Indian Summer Monsoon and the Tibetan Plateau Heating on Summer Rainfall over North China by Siwen Zhao, Jie Zhang, Zhihong Lv

    Published 2020-01-01
“…Meanwhile, there is another Rossby wave originating in North Africa and moving eastward to the Pacific Ocean, which interferes with circulation at mid- to high-latitudes, i.e., it strengthens the cyclone over the Baikal region and stretches the western Pacific subtropical high (WPSH) northward to northeastern Asia, and results in abundant water vapor transported to NC. …”

Exploring proteins within the coccolith matrix by Craig J. Dedman, Nishant Chauhan, Alba González-Lanchas, Chloë Baldreki, Adam A. Dowle, Tony R. Larson, Renee B. Y. Lee, Rosalind E. M. Rickaby

    Published 2024-12-01
“…Abstract Coccolithophores comprise a major component of the oceanic carbon cycle. These unicellular algae produce ornate structures made of calcium carbonate, termed coccoliths, representing ~ 50% of calcite production in the open ocean. …”

The ambiguous role of partially protected marine protected areas in Australia: Results from a systematic literature review. by Genevieve A C Phillips, Emily Ogier, Ian Dutton, Neville Barrett, Nils C Krueck, Klaas Hartmann

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Marine protected areas (MPAs) are an important tool in helping to protect biodiversity in the oceans. Recent ratification of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) has ensured that globally we are committed to effectively protecting 30% of the world's oceans by 2030, in MPAs. …”

Characteristics and circulation of archipelagic waters with the three-dimensional hydrodynamic model approach by Suhaemi ., D.G. Bengen, C.P.H. Simanjuntak, A.F. Koropitan

    Published 2022-10-01
“…A three-dimensional computational model was performed using MIKE3.FINDINGS: The water mass around the Misool Islands are more influenced by the local oceanographic processes than the water masses from the Pacific Ocean. The study site is characterized by the mixed tide, prevalence to semi-diurnal based on observational tidal data. …”

Role of estuarine natural flocculation process in removal of Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn by S. Hassani, A.R. Karbassi, M. Ardestani

    Published 2017-04-01
“…The flocculation of dissolved heavy metals is a process which has an important effect on decreasing the concentration of the colloidal elements during estuarine mixing of river water and sea or ocean water. During this important process, a large amount of colloidal elements change into particles in the form of flock and the dissolved loads decline. …”

Assessing the impacts of satellite tagging on growth rates of immature hawksbill turtles by Holly J. Stokes, Kimberley L. Stokes, Jeanne A. Mortimer, Jacques‐Olivier Laloë, Nicole Esteban, Graeme C. Hays

    Published 2025-01-01
“…We assessed the impact of satellite tagging on sea turtles at a foraging site in the Indian Ocean. Hawksbill turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata) were captured, and satellite tags (Fastloc‐GPS Argos) attached to 25 individuals between 2018 and 2021, with a mean straight carapace length (SCLn‐t) of 55.3 ± 6.9 cm (range = 47.9–69.5 cm; N = 21). …”
