Emission Characteristics of Volatile Organic Compounds from Typical Coal Utilization Sources: A Case Study in Shanxi of Northern China
Published 2021-05-01“…In this study, we investigated the profiles; benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX) ratios; ozone formation potential (OFP); and secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formation potential of VOCs generated by coal-utilizing steel plants, power plants, coking plants, and residential stoves in northern China. Among the detected VOCs, the results identified 1-butene as the most abundant species for both the power plants (36.7%) and the residential stoves (41.7%) as well as a significant contributor at the steel plants (7.3%), and alkenes, alkanes, and aromatics composed the largest groups for the power plants (42.0%) and residential stoves (60.2%); steel plants (59.2%); and coking plants (66.1%), respectively. …”

Psychological abuse and its influencing factors among home-dwelling older people in Northern China: a cross-sectional survey
Published 2025-01-01“…This leads to a higher incidence of anxiety, depression, and other psychological problems among older people, reducing their quality of life, and even jeopardizing their safety.MethodsA cross-sectional questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate psychological abuse among home-dwelling older people in Northern China and its influencing factors. Participants were surveyed using a demographic questionnaire, activities of daily living (ADL), family adaptability and cohesion evaluation scale (FACES), and elder psychological abuse scale. …”

Tracing Aquatic Macrophyte Development in Nansi Lake, Northern China's Largest Freshwater Lake: Plant Macrofossils From 1855 to Present
Published 2025-01-01“…This study utilized plant macrofossil remains deposited in the sediment, combined with macrophyte surveys from 1983 to 2010, to reconstruct the historical changes in the macrophyte community over approximately 160 years in Lake Weishan, a sub‐lake of Lake Nansi located in the lower Yellow River (Huanghe River) Basin, northern China. Approximately 54.3% of the species historically recorded at the core site were identified through macro‐remains analysis, including five previously unrecorded submerged taxa (Myriophyllum verticillatum, Ranunculus trichophyllus, Chara sp., Nitella sp., and Vallisneria spinulosa) discovered during monitoring surveys. …”

Pre-Season Precipitation and Temperature Have a Larger Influence on Vegetation Productivity than That of the Growing Season in the Agro-Pastoral Ecotone in Northern China
Published 2025-01-01“…This study utilizes satellite-derived vegetation indices, land cover datasets, and climate data to investigate the influence of both land cover and climate changes on vegetation growth in the agro-pastoral ecotone of northern China (APENC) from 2001 to 2022. The results reveal that the sensitivity of vegetation productivity, as indicated by the kernel Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (kNDVI), varies depending on the land cover type to climate change in the APENC. …”
