Variations in the performance, fruit shelf life, and mineral compositions of two varieties of pepper (Capsicum chinense ) grown under different soil amendments and seasons
Published 2023-08-01“…Purpose: A study was carried out during the 2021 dry season and 2022 rainy season to evaluate the differences in the performance, fruit longevity, mineral, and vitamin C compositions of two varieties of pepper (Capsicum chinense) cultivated using different organic amendments and inorganic fertilizer as a check. Poultry manure (PM), Tithonia diversifolia (TD), cattle manure (CM), inorganic fertilizer (NPK 15:15:15), and the control (CTRL) were used as treatments.Method: Organic amendments were applied at a rate of 20 t ha-1, while NPK was applied at a rate of 180 kg ha-1. …”

Influence of Tithonia diversifolia and cattle manures on the growth and yield of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.)
Published 2023-07-01“…Purpose Much cattle manure and Tithonia are in abundance in the Guinea savanna of Nigeria where sesame has been found to do well. The cost of inorganic fertilizer is going beyond the reach of the average sesame farmer; the need therefore arises to synthesize farming practices that incorporate the rich organic materials locally available as a substitute for inorganic fertilizer for sustainable food production. Methods A study was conducted at the Teaching and Research Farm, University of Ilorin, Nigeria during the 2018 and 2019 cropping seasons, to evaluate the performance of sesame using T. diversifolia and cattle manures. …”

Monitoring and discussion on river carbon and nitrogen fluxes in the Pearl River Estuary region
Published 2025-01-01“…The results show that the total flow in the dry season (939.22 m3/s) is lower than that in the rainy season (1556.40 m3/s); the highest concentration of total organic carbon is in the dry season (14.70 mg/L) and the lowest is in the rainy season (10.95 mg/L); the total organic carbon emission flux is lower in the dry season (1804.45 g/s) than in the rainy season (3331.04 g/s), and the maximum emission points in both seasons are at the Damenkou Waterway, with values of 2327.60 g/s and 917.87 g/s, respectively; the highest concentration of total nitrogen is in the dry season (40.20 mg/L) and the lowest is in the rainy season (17.80 mg/L); the total nitrogen flux is lower in the dry season (2204.68 g/s) than in the rainy season (2403.47 g/s). Inorganic nitrogen is the main component of total nitrogen, and ammonium nitrogen is the main component of inorganic nitrogen. …”
