Associations between local COVID-19 policies and anxiety in the USA: a longitudinal digital cohort study
Published 2025-01-01“…Local government policies may have contributed to increases in anxiety and mental health disparities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods We analysed associations between composite policy scores for containment and closure, public health or economic support from the US COVID-19 County Policy Database and self-reported anxiety scores (Generalised Anxiety Disorder-7) from COVID-19 Citizen Science participants between 22 April 2020 and 31 December 2021.Results In 188 976 surveys from 36 711 participants in 100 counties across 28 states, associations between anxiety and containment and closure policy differed by employment (p<0.0001), with elevated anxiety under maximal policy for people working in hospitality and food services (+1.05 vs no policy; 95% CI: 0.45, 1.64) or arts and entertainment (+0.56; 95% CI 0.15, 0.97) and lower anxiety for people working in healthcare (−0.43; 95% CI −0.66 to –0.20) after adjusting for calendar time, county-specific effects and COVID-19 case rates and death rates. …”

A new multi-grid bathymetric dataset of the Gulf of Naples (Italy) from complementary multi-beam echo sounders
Published 2025-01-01“…The digital bathymetric data previously available are restricted to the shallow highly dynamic area of the Gulf of Naples and appear fragmented as they were acquired in successive years, with different goals thereby using a variety of devices, with markedly different spatial resolutions. In this paper, we present bathymetric maps of the Gulf of Naples and adjacent slope basins at unprecedented resolution using three state-of-the-art multi-beam echo sounders. …”

A study of relationship between cardiac exposure dose-volume and cardiovascular autonomic dysfunction in radiotherapy
Published 2024-11-01“…This study aimed to explore the impact of thoracic radiotherapy on the cardiac autonomic function of patients with malignant tumors by comparing the differences in heart rate variability (HRV) analysis parameters before and after radiotherapy, and to explore the dosimetric risk factors for the occurrence of AD by comparing the dosimetry between the case group and the control group, providing a theoretical basis for optimizing the dose distribution of radiotherapy regimens in order to improve patient prognosis and reduce the occurrence of complications. Methods: We prospectively collected data of patients with malignant tumors who underwent thoracic radiotherapy in the Radiotherapy Department of the Affiliated Hospital of North China University of Science and Technology from February 2023 to December 2023. …”

Case Report: Combination of focal vibration therapy and botulinum toxin injections to treat equinus gait in a child with unilateral spastic cerebral palsy
Published 2025-02-01“…In children with spastic cerebral palsy (CP), FVT has also been suggested to reduce spasticity, increase torque production and improve gait function, but evidence is limited.MethodsWe report the case of a child with unilateral spastic CP (USCP) and equinus gait (GFMCS II level) with (i) ankle dorsiflexor paresis, (ii) ankle plantar flexor overactivity, especially in gastrosoleus complex and peroneus longus, (iii) spastic myopathy, affecting gastrosoleus complex in particular, and (iv) calf pain seemingly related to muscle overactivity. …”

THE RIGHT TO GOOD ADMINISTRATION AS A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT OF THE PERSON: EU EXPERIENCE
Published 2024-05-01“…The functioning of the administration (first of all, the executive power and its subsystems, as well as local self-government bodies) is fundamental for determining the quality of the democratic system as a whole. In general, we can say that the quality of administrative functioning is achieved by proper administrative practice (which includes the observance of fundamental rights) or, conversely, by the presence of improper management. …”

Role of hepatocyte RIPK1 in maintaining liver homeostasis during metabolic challenges
Published 2025-01-01“…However, the mechanisms governing this resilience remain incompletely understood. In this study, we identified Receptor interacting protein kinase 1 (RIPK1) in hepatocytes as a critical regulator in preserving hepatic homeostasis during metabolic challenges, such as short-term fasting or high-fat dieting. …”

Prospective Single-Arm Study of Remifentanil-Propofol Anesthesia with Manual Right Hypochondrial Compression for Painless Gastroscopy in Obese Patients
Published 2025-02-01“…Furthermore, our findings contribute to the understanding of the lowest SpO2 values that obese patients can tolerate during such procedures, establishing Nadir SpO2 as the cut-off point. We also identified severe OSA and diabetes as independent predictive risk factors for hypoxemia. …”

VSIG4+ tumor-associated macrophages mediate neutrophil infiltration and impair antigen-specific immunity in aggressive cancers through epigenetic regulation of SPP1
Published 2025-02-01“…However, the mechanism how VSIG4+ TAMs mediate immune evasion in aggressive cancers have not been fully elucidated. In our study, we found targeting VSIG4+ TAMs by VSIG4 deficiency or blockade remarkably limited tumor growth and metastasis, especially those derived from anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) and pancreatic cancer, two extremely aggressive types. …”
