Numerical Simulation Study on Influence of Riverbed Changes on Saltwater Intrusion in Northwest River Delta by JIN Gaoyang, ZHU Sanhua, CAO Yihao

    Published 2024-01-01
“…To study the changes in the riverbed of the Northwest River Delta and their relationship with saltwater intrusion, this paper builds a one-dimensional unsteady flow chlorine concentration mathematical model based on the collection and organization of previous research results, hydrological, meteorological, and river terrain data. The hydrodynamic and chlorine concentration verification results meet the relevant regulatory requirements and can be applied to calculate and analyze the impact of riverbed changes on saltwater intrusion. The research results are as follows.① From 1999 to 2016, the riverbed of the Northwest River Delta network was in an uneven downward cutting state, and the volume of the river continued to increase, resulting in a decrease in the resistance of the estuary to rising and falling tides. The upward tracing of high saltwater masses along the estuary was simpler, and the upward tracing of salt tides became increasingly severe.② The rising tide at each Koumen station increases, and the probability of removing freshwater from the saltwater boundary decreases.Under different inflow conditions in Sixianjiao, the average upward movement of the saltwater boundary at Modaomen Waterway is 3 735 m,and the average downward movement of the freshwater from Pinggang Pumping Station is 5.33%.The average upward movement of the saltwater boundary at Shawan Waterway is 2 369 m,and the average downward movement of the freshwater from Shawan No.1 Water Plant is 5.14%.These seriously affect the ecosystem and normal water intake demand in the estuarine area. The research results can provide basic support for the research and engineering design of water supply safety measures in the Northwest River Delta and estuarine areas.…”

Risk Analysis of Sequential Dam Break of Cascade Reservoirs and Simulation of Flood Routing by YU Zibo, XIANG Yan, MENG Ying, SU Zhengyang

    Published 2021-01-01
“…To study the risk of sequential dam break of cascade reservoirs, and to simulate and analyze the flood routing process,by constructing a Bayesian network model for the sequential dam break of double reservoirs under the action of extra standard floods and piping, and combining the dam break and flood routing simulation of Breach dam-break numerical model and two-dimensional HEC-RAS hydrodynamic model, this paper calculates the probability of dam break, evaluates the risk of sequential dam break, and simulates the flood routing process, taking Hanconggou Reservoir and Dingguoshan Reservoir as examples. The calculation results show that:Through Bayesian-based backward inference of the known dam break of Dingguoshan Reservoir, the probability of “Hancongou Reservoir dam break” increased from 3% to 87%;while through Bayesian-based backward inference of the known dam break of Hancongou Reservoir, the probability of “Hancongou Reservoir piping” increased from 16% to 87%.Under extra standard flood and piping conditions, due to the sequential dam break of the two reservoirs, the time for the flood to reach the section CS1—CS6 is 0.8~3.0 h;under the flood conditions that occurred once in 1 000 years, the Hancongou Reservoir was opened for flood discharge but the dam was not broken.Only the Dingguoshan Reservoir was over-topped with dam break, and the flood reached the section CS1—CS6 in 21.5~26.5 h.This study can provide scientific reference for reducing dam break risk, and making emergency plan and disaster prevention & mitigation plan.…”

Analysis of the Impact of Sewage Outfall on the Water Quality of Coastal Waters of Macau Based on MIKE21 Model by CHANG Ze, ZHANG Qionghai, JIANG Yu, SUN Ning, HE Rui, WANG Tengfei, WU Yaju, LONG Xiaofei

    Published 2021-01-01
“…This paper simulates the impact of the sewage outfall of the Macau Taipa Wastewater Treatment Plant on the water quality changes in the nearby Lingding Ocean by the hydrodynamic module (HD) and the transmission diffusion module (TR) of the MIKE21 model, provides the boundary conditions for the local two-dimensional tidal current model (built by MIKE21) through the one and two-dimensional integrated tidal current model of the Pearl River Estuary area, and analyzes the impact of pollutant diffusion under normal discharge and accident discharge in terms of the three evaluation factors, namely CODCr (chemical oxygen demand),SS (total suspended solids) and NH3-N (Ammonia-Nitrogen),under the “2005·6” flood combination and “2001·2” low water combination as the most unfavorable hydrological conditions. The results show that the water quality of main channel can meet the Class Ⅲ standard among the Sea Water Quality Standards (GB 3097—1997).With proper preventive measure, the out-of-limit water area under accidental discharge is less than 0.2 km2.This model has good adaptability to the simulation of the diffusion of pollutants into the coastal waters of Macau,so it can better simulate the impact of sewage discharge on the water quality of the sea under the action of ocean tides, and serve as a basis and research direction for the establishment of sewage outfall.…”
