Application of Improved Graph Theory in Planning of River and Lake System Connection by JIANG Yu, ZHANG Qionghai, YAN Meng

    Published 2022-01-01
“…This paper first analyzes the river system characteristics, hydrodynamic conditions, and status quo of water environment in the tidal river network area.On this basis,a preliminary connection scheme is then drawn up by the concept of connectivity in the graph theory based on “flow resistance” and the connectivity diagnosis and optimization method of river systems based on the “shortest path” idea. The scheme is further refined by a one-dimensional hydrodynamic mathematical water quality model. The results reveal that the scheme of minimum resistance connection by the graph theory is the optimal scheme of structural connectivity, and the problem of connection failure caused by the sluice control mode is solved after the scheme is refined by the mathematical model. This method can quickly diagnose the structural connectivity of river and lake systems, enrich the diagnostic means of river and lake connectivity, and provide a reference for the planning of river system connectivity in the tidal river network area of the Pearl River Delta.…”

Simulation on Water Diversion Regulation Effect in the Central Ditch of Hengqin New District,Zhuhai by LONG Xiaofei, WU Yaju, FAN Qunfang, ZHU Song, WANG Hua, ZHU Jinhe

    Published 2023-01-01
“…The tidal river network area of the Pearl River Delta uses the ebb-and-flow differences between tidal level of the outer river and water level of the inland river to divert clear water for regulation. This is an effective way to improve the water environment of the tidal river network. The central ditch of Hengqin New District is in the tidal river network area of the Pearl River Delta. To improve the water environment of the central ditch in Hengqin New District, this study builds a one-dimensional hydrodynamic mathematical model of water quality and investigates the hydrodynamic regulation scheme for improving the regional water environment. Then, the water exchange effects of the original regulation scheme and the optimized regulation scheme are calculated and analyzed. The simulation results show that the optimized regulation scheme increases the regional flow rate by 0.20 m/s,shortens the half-exchange period by 101.5 h,and increases the water exchange rate by a factor of 1.1,which demonstrates a great improvement effect on the regional water environment. The results can be used as a reference for the implementation of the water diversion regulation scheme in the tidal river network area.…”

Application of MIKE11 Model in River Network Area of Pearl River Delta for Water Quality Improvement by LI Qingfeng, GUO Shan, ZHANG Ruyu, YAN Xiaoman, ZHANG Xuelin

    Published 2023-01-01
“…The water quality improvement in the river network area of the Pearl River Delta is an important part of the comprehensive management of the river basin, and it is necessary to study the compliance of water quality improvement measures.Taking the Beicun river system of Nanhai district,Foshan city in the Pearl River Delta as an example, this paper chooses COD,NH3-N and TP as the characteristic indexes based on the MIKE11 one-dimensional hydrodynamic water quality model to study the hydrodynamic force of rivers and water quality improvement effect under different engineering schemes. The results show that measures such as pollution interception, silt removal, and water diversion can improve the overall water quality of the studied river reach in varying degrees, and thus the water quality improvement is achieved. As the projects of pollution interception and fresh water are implemented, the water quality in typical cross sections of main rivers in the Beicun river system can meet the requirement of class Ⅴ.After the implementation of water diversion and transfer,as well as CSO storage pool, the pollutant concentration in the observed cross section of seriously polluted rivers decreases by more than 70%.As a result, this paper can provide a basis for improving water quality in the river network area of the Pearl River Delta.…”
