Cardiac resynchronization therapy via left bundle branch pacing in heart failure with complete left bundle branch block: is the defibrillator needed?
Published 2025-01-01“…Septal-to-posterior wall motion delay (SPWMD) and systolic dyssynchrony index (SDI) were indicators of intraventricular synchrony, SPWMD decreased from 271.4 ± 76.4 ms to 42.2 ± 22.9 ms (P < 0.001), and SDI decreased from 12.5 ± 5.3% to 1.9 ± 1.0% after implantation (P < 0.001).ConclusionsHeart failure patients meeting the following criteria may be considered for dual-chamber pacing as an alternative to CRT-D, potentially avoiding the need for ICD implantation: (1) CLBBB meeting Strauss's criteria, (2) presence of intraventricular dyssynchrony on echocardiogram, (3) exclusion of secondary prevention ICD indications, (4) absence of evident LGE on CMR, and (5) successful correction of CLBBB during LBBP.…”

sST2 as a New Biomarker of Chronic Kidney Disease-Induced Cardiac Remodeling: Impact on Risk Prediction
Published 2018-01-01“…No patient had reduced ejection fraction. 112 patients had left ventricular hypertrophy, and 184 presented cardiac dysfunction, with structural, functional abnormalities or both. sST2 was independent of age and eGFR (ρ=0.05, p=0.44, and ρ=−0.07, p=0.3, respectively). Regarding echocardiogram data, sST2 was correlated with left ventricular mass index (ρ=0.16, p=0.02), left atrial diameter (ρ=0.14, p=0.04), and volume index (ρ=0.13, p=0.05). sST2 alone did not change risk prediction of death and/or CV events compared to natriuretic peptides. …”
