Sol LeWitt. The Conceptuality of Drawing
Published 2018-06-01“… Two significant faxes can be found in the archive of the ‘Pietro Vannucci’ Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia: they are worthy of note both because they are signed by two well-known personalities (Sol LeWitt and Bruno Corà) and because they markedly represent a genuine manifesto which is theoretically capable of healing the fracture that traditionally separates architecture and art history in matters of drawing intended as a form of thought. In the first fax, dated March 22, 1995, LeWitt (at the time residing for long periods in Spoleto) tells his friend Bruno Corà (then professor of Art History in the Academy) about the delivery of the maquette of a work created specifically for Perugia [1]: an ‘open cube’ (the solid form most loved by LeWitt [2]) which, as an element of the exhibition project City and Art, aimed at injecting viral works into extra moenia urban areas of symbolic interest, was to be exhibited in the portico of the large public building built in those same years by Aldo Rossi and located on the western side of the Piazza Nuova in Fontivegge [3]. …”

The Representation of Landscape through Drawings and Utopian Visions
Published 2024-12-01“… We open our reflection with an examination of the words or phrases that are the key of this third topic: ‘representation’, ‘landscape’, ‘imaginary drawings’ and ‘utopian visions’. It seems rather superfluous to dwell on the first one, ‘representation’, since we architects and teachers of the disciplines of representation have already written and spoken so much about it. …”

Drawings in the world. On multiscalarity and scales outside the representation
Published 2020-06-01“…The article relates the concept of architectural scale with the philosophical and political implications of the world representation action implicit in every scalar operation. Drawing from a certain philosophical tradition about representation, it follows that the scalar attribution can be interpreted as an attempt to perform a form of control over the represented through the drawing, with the purpose to legitimize the author and the scientificity of the architectural discipline in theories and Schools. …”

Houses, Objects and Architects. Architectural Drawing in Children’s Literature
Published 2020-05-01“… The research, presented here in summary form, investigates the contributions of architectural drawing in children’s books and literature. The role of drawing in aesthetic education, in education for the understanding of space and in the introduction of young readers to the world of 20th century architecture is of primary importance and the research aims to underline as case studies are only simple examples for readers who are cognitively less trained than adults, but describe a precise educational strategy that cannot be derogated from other means. …”
