Tractable yet effective approximation to directional antenna array for millimeter-wave networks
Published 2018-12-01“…The complexity of the actual antenna pattern imposes restrictions on investigating the benefits of directional antenna arrays in large-scale networks.Hence,a novel multi-level flat-top antenna pattern was proposed to approximate and simplify the actual one and was applied in millimeter-wave cellular networks for performance analysis. To fully characterize the impact of the directional antenna array on the user performance, stochastic geometry was adopted to establish an analytical framework for millimeter-wave cellular networks and derive the coverage probability and transmission rate of the typical user with the proposed multi-level flat-top antenna pattern, including the exact and bounding expressions. The simulation results show that the proposed antenna pattern provides a better tradeoff between the accuracy and tractability than previous patterns.…”

Performance analysis of multi-relay DF cooperative communication system based on directional antenna
Published 2016-06-01“…In order to achieve reliable communication in multi-relay cooperative communication, the directional antenna combining multi-relay cooperative communication system and optimal relay selection decode-and-forward cooperative strategy was presented.Firstly, the theoretical closed form of outage probability of the communication system using directional antenna operating in the three modes of DT-DR,DT-OR and OT-OR were presented. Then for three kinds mode, the collaboration communication system interrupt probability and signal-to-noise ratio, the number of relay nodes, the antenna gain channel fading efficiency and relationship between the channel capacity were analyzed in numerical simulation. These findings reveal that excellent performance of cooperative communication system with directional antennas could be achieved such as smaller outage probability and improved by best relay nodes and optimal power allocation coefficient.…”

Coverage in airborne backbone network
Published 2018-11-01“…The high-altitude long-durance unmanned aerial vehicle (HALE-UAV) equipped with directional antenna and the cuboid-shaped air corridor (AC) were taken as the study objects, and the basic idea was to extract the invariant coverage area of moving spherical cones, cylinder,as the basic component to fill AC.The general goal was to employ HALE-UAV as few as possible under the condition that the height of the cylinder was larger than that of AC.The circular and triangular orbits of HALE-UAV were analyzed in geometry respectively, and the mathematical expressions of the radius and height of the cylinder were derived. Then two coverage schemes were introduced.Through comparing the two schemes by optimization theory, the optimal coverage strategy was derived. Results show that the circular orbit is better than the triangular orbit. Moreover, the optimal solution is to employ the quasi-static floating platforms, and the suboptimal is to adopt the circular orbit of a small radius,or the triangular orbit of a small side, with a HALE-UAV on an orbit.…”

Geometrical statistical channel model with an Inverted-Parabolic spatial distribution
Published 2014-03-01“…,a proper geometrical statistical channel model was proposed with inverted-parabolic spatial distribution around mobile station(MS) by using geometric partitioning method.Closed-form expressions for probability density functions(PDF) of AOA ,TOA and DS in the outdoor macrocell and microcell wireless environments were derived.Compared with the uniform and Gaussian scatter density model, the observed results consist with previous theory and experience. In addition, the Doppler spectra at the MS was also presented and the Clarke U-shaped model was modified.Employing the channel model, the effect of directional antenna was analyzed with the main-lobe width 2α at the BS and D/R and φ .v…”

Contention graph based concurrent scheduling algorithm in millimeter wave WPAN
Published 2019-01-01“…The directional antennas and beamforming techniques in millimeter wave (mmWave) bands are used to make concurrent transmission between multiple flows become possible. However, higher mutual interference may be caused by concurrent transmission. Therefore, when the time slots were limited and the number of data flows was large, how to schedule the concurrent flows efficiently was solved by proposed algorithm. The contention graph based spatial-time division multiple access (CB-STDMA) concurrent scheduling algorithm guaranteed the quality of service (QoS) of users, and aimed at maximizing the number of flows with their QoS requirements satisfied. It considered the interference between different flows, and a higher priority was given to the flow with fewer time slots requirement.Extensive simulations demonstrated that the proposed CB-STDMA algorithm increased the number of flows with their QoS requirements satisfied and the network throughput by 50% and 20% respectively compared with the existing algorithms.…”
