Tensor-based approach to the co-prime planar array signal processing
Published 2020-08-01“…For the co-prime planar array (CPPA) consisting of two sparse uniform rectangular array (URA),a new processing method based on tensor algebra was proposed to enhance the degrees of freedom (DoF).By dividing each URA into some overlapping subarrays, the received signals of two URAs were expressed as two tensors. And then the cross-correlation between such two tensors was processed into a received signal tensor of the virtual array.Analysis show that by the new method, the CPPA with 2 2L -1 physical elements can be transformed into a virtual sparse non-uniform planar array with<inline-formula><math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mfrac> <mrow> <msup> <mrow> <mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>L</mi><mo>+</mo><mn>1</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow> <mrow> <mtext> </mtext><mn>4</mn></mrow> </msup> </mrow> <mrow> <mn>16</mn></mrow> </mfrac> </math></inline-formula>elements.For the virtual array, the tensor decomposition-based approach for estimating the two-dimensional (2-D) direction of arrival (DoA) of the incident signal is also proposed, which means 2-D spectral peak searching is avoided.Compared with the co-prime planar signal processing methods reported in the literature, the proposed method can increase the DoF from L 2to<inline-formula><math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mfrac> <mrow> <msup> <mrow> <mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>L</mi><mo>+</mo><mn>1</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow> <mrow> <mtext> </mtext><mn>4</mn></mrow> </msup> </mrow> <mrow> <mn>16</mn></mrow> </mfrac> <mo>+</mo><mn>1</mn> </math></inline-formula>,and has the better performance of the 2-D DoA estimation and lower computational complexity.Simulation results demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method.…”

Sorghum yield prediction based on remote sensing and machine learning in conflict affected South Sudan
Published 2025-02-01“…We use five Machine Learning (ML) techniques, including Random Forest (RF), Decision Tree (DT), Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGboost), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to predict 2021 end-of-season sorghum yield in conflict affected Upper Nile and Western Bahr El Gazal states. We computed correlations and the analysis revealed high variability in term of yield in the 2 states with an average sorghum yield of 366.03 kg/ha (SD = 292.29 kg/ha) and a strong positive correlation (0.75, p < 0.001) between cultivated land size and sorghum yield. …”

Perspectives for Using the Programmatic Approach within the Activities of Law Enforcement Agencies of Ukraine
Published 2019-12-01“…It has been established that the programmatic approach can be applied in any sphere of law enforcement activity, if: 1) such activity is situational in nature, and it is possible to perform the tasks arising during the implementation of this activity through consistent implementation of certain actions; 2) there is the need to streamline these activities by providing tactical recommendations in the modern form with the use of computer technologies and the ability to use them directly in the course of action, in “field conditions”; 3) the level of elaboration of theoretical bases of tactics of a specific type of law enforcement activity is sufficient (the concept of tactics, tactical situation, tactical task, tactical technique and system of tactical techniques has been elaborated).…”
