Application and Research of Three-Row Pile Retaining Structure in Key Project of Drainage Pumping Station by HU Xubao, YAN Yong

    Published 2022-01-01
“…Most of the wing walls at the connection section of forebays in key projects of drainage pumping stations are generally designed as cantilevers, buttresses,or box-type retaining wall structures and are equipped with temporary diversion and supporting measures, which thus require high project investment and long construction period. This paper took the Yaquewei water conservancy project as an example and optimized the scheme of wing walls between the pump station and the sluice at the connection section of the forebay of a large-scale drainage pumping station. After comparison and selection,it was recommended to adopt a three-row pile retaining structure, which is less used in water conservancy projects. The optimized scheme saves the project investment and shortens the construction period. At the same time,three-dimensional finite element numerical simulation technology and other means were used to compare the calculation results with the measured engineering data,so as to demonstrate the technical feasibility of the scheme and summarize the design experience.…”

Combined Implant and Tooth Support: An Up-to-Date Comprehensive Overview by Mahmoud K. Al-Omiri, Maher Al-Masri, Mohannad M. Alhijawi, Edward Lynch

    Published 2017-01-01
“…Although surrounded with some controversy, joining teeth and implants during the rehabilitation of partial edentulism provides the clinicians with more treatment options where proprioception and bone volume are maintained and distal cantilevers and free end saddles are eliminated. It makes the treatment less complex, of less cost, and more acceptable for the patient. …”

Exposing hidden periodic orbits in scanning force microscopy by Lukas Böttcher, Hannes Wallner, Niklas Kruse, Wolfram Just, Ingo Barke, Jens Starke, Sylvia Speller

    Published 2025-02-01
“…Abstract The nonlinear interaction between the tip of a scanning probe microscope (SPM) and a sample is manifested in the emergence of bifurcations and unstable branches in the frequency response of a driven cantilever. While extensively investigated theoretically, exploring the unstable branch in an actual SPM experiment is lacking so far, reflecting the broader challenge in studying mechanical nanojunction oscillators under strongly varying external forces. …”
