Microscopic Analysis of Severe Structural Rearrangements of the Plant Endoplasmic Reticulum and Golgi Caused by Overexpression of Poa semilatent virus Movement Protein
Published 2012-01-01“…Here we report microscopic studies of the influence of the Poa semilatent hordeivirus TGBp3 overexpressed in Nicotiana benthamiana epidermal cells by particle bombardment on cell endomembranes and demonstrate that the protein C-terminal transmembrane segment contains a determinant responsible for vesiculation and coalescence of the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi presumably accompanying the ER stress that can be induced upon high-level TGBp3 expression.…”

Nanoscale characterization of space weathering in lunar samples
Published 2025-01-01“…Spatially localized 1050 cm−1/935 cm−1 band ratios in Nano-FTIR hyperspectral maps may further reflect impact-induced shock nanostructures, while shifts in silicate band positions indicate accumulated radiation damage at the nanoscale from prolonged space weathering due to micrometeorites, solar wind, energetic x-rays and cosmic ray bombardment. Our observations demonstrate that space weathering alterations of the surface of lunar samples at the nanoscale may provide a mechanism to distinguish lunar samples of variable surface exposure age.…”

Effects of Surface Modifications on Rotating Bending Fatigue of Ni-Al Bronze Alloy
Published 2024-12-01“…LSM could homogenize the NAB into a uniform microstructure with refined columnar grains in the laser-melted zone but introduced residual tensile stress (RTS). The bombardment and generated heat induced by MSP could not entirely remove the granular κII precipitates and lamellar κIII phase in the peened zone of the shot-peened sample (NSP sample) but introduced residual compressive stress (RCS) into the NSP sample under the peening intensity of this work. …”

Nanostructured Porous Silicon Photonic Crystal for Applications in the Infrared
Published 2012-01-01“…These devices are fabricated from porous silicon single layers (for 2D structures) or multilayers (for 3D structures), opening air holes in them by means of 1 KeV argon ion bombardment through the appropriate copper grids. For 2D structures, a complete photonic band gap for TE polarization is found in the thermal infrared range. …”

C-MCG: Synthesis, Uptake Selectivity, and Primate PET of a Probe for Glutamate Carboxypeptidase II (NAALADase)
Published 2002-04-01“…Biodistribution of 11 C-MCG was assayed in mice, and quantitative PET was performed in a baboon. 11 C-MCG was obtained in 16% radiochemical yield at the end of synthesis with specific radioactivities over 167 GBq/mmol (4000 Ci/mmol) within 30 min after the end of bombardment. At 30 min postinjection, 11 C-MCG showed 33.0 ± 5.1%, 0.4 ± 0.1%, and 1.1 ± 0.2% ID/g in mouse kidney (target tissue), muscle, and blood, respectively. …”
