A Sense of Place Through Land Art by Amanda Gabriel, Elisabeth von Essen, Beatrice Guardini, Sara Kjellgren, Claire Peterson, Christopher Staundinger

    Published 2024-12-01
“…Reflections on experiences of creating land art projects are presented exploring the basic perception of inner processes connected to place that are cognitive, somatic and embodied, moving towards a deeper relationship with place, touching upon place meaning, identity and attachment. The findings highlight the potential of individual land art experiences as means of engaging with and reimagining public spaces, raising questions about the rights to the city and the public space, and highlighting the awareness that a land art project that is ephemeral and natural has an intrinsic value for its users and how this could be beneficial for the individual experiences and wellbeing.…”

Spatio-Temporal Dynamics of Sediment Transport Pathways: Sand Apron Bars and Islands of Tokelau and Kiribati, Central Pacific by Eugene C. Rankey, Tion Uriam, Mika Perez

    Published 2023-12-01
“…Nonetheless, sedimentary response to these external forcings at any specific location also is shaped by local factors, such as trade wind-generated lagoonal waves and currents, atoll lagoon size and depth, margin width and orientation relative to waves, and autogenic processes such as attachment of migrating bars. Collectively, these influences shape the spatially and temporally heterogeneous sediment flux to and from islands, and thus the variable response of islands to ongoing sea-level change. …”
