The Death of American Studies by Simon J. Bronner

    Published 2019-09-01
“…Dorson’s landmark address “The Birth of American Studies” in Warsaw on the occasion of forty years since the start of the groundbreaking Harvard program in American Studies, this essay questions whether American Studies in the forty years afterwards suffered a fatal malaise. It applies the analytical approach of historiographer Gene Wise to identify “representative acts” that mark paradigm dramas resulting from tension in holding together an interdisciplinary field subject to schism and displacement. …”

Evaluation method of penetrating jamming effectiveness for cognitive communication protection by Zhiguo SUN, Shuo XIAO, Yijie WU, Shiming LI, Zhenduo WANG

    Published 2023-11-01
“…In order to support the implementation of “multidimensional orthogonal configured communication protection between communication modules as well as parameters and interference” in cognitive communication countermeasures scenarios, jamming effectiveness requires module level responsiveness.A penetrating jamming effectiveness evaluation method was proposed.Firstly, the core parameters of each signal processing module were selected as evaluation parameters.Secondly, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and entropy weight method (EWM) were used to determine the weight of indicators. The coordination problem in AHP was solved through expert weight allocation, and the weight allocation problem in EWM was solved through non-uniform mapping. Finally, the subjective and objective weights were weighed through game theory, and the jamming effectiveness was judged by the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS).By conducting evaluation experiments on the jamming performance of the Link16 data link, taking into account multiple aspects such as jamming types, number of jamming frequencies, jamming duration, and system types.Experiment results demonstrate that the penetration-based jamming performance evaluation method not only provides a more intuitive representation of the relationship between evaluation results and metric parameters, but also possesses excellent jamming discrimination capability.…”

Evolutionary Network Games: Equilibria from Imitation and Best Response Dynamics by Giulio Cimini

    Published 2017-01-01
“…However, for coordination games, we reveal an important difference: on infinitely large scale-free networks, cooperative equilibria arise for any value of the incentive to cooperate. Our analytical results are confirmed by numerical simulations and open the question of whether there can be dynamics that consistently leads to stringent equilibria refinements for both classes of games.…”

Fuzzy evaluation for response effectiveness in cases of incomplete information by Fenghua LI, Yongjun LI, Zhengkun YANG, Han ZHANG, Lingcui ZHANG

    Published 2019-04-01
“…,missing elements of judgment matrix and missing data of indicators) and the response effectiveness was evaluate.Firstly,a hierarchical indicator tree was design to characterize the effectiveness from the perspectives of both attack and defense. Then, the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) was used to calculate the comprehensive weight of each indicator. Finally, the response effectiveness was calculated using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. In particular,to deal with the problem of incompleteness of fuzzy judgment matrix in the process of FAHP,the missing elements were completed based on the transitivity of elements. And to deal with the problem of loss data in the comprehensive evaluation, the missing data was completed based on matrix completion. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme can accurately recover the missing data and can effectively evaluate the effectiveness of response.…”
