Théorie de la régulation : la perspective oubliée du développement by Noureddine El Aoufi

    Published 2012-02-01
“…The examination of the research program over thirty years stresses the idea of a western-centered orientation of the recent works and a progressive tendency to a restriction of the field of analysis to the variety of canonic fordism, especially that of Western countries. This self-reference system is more than territorial insofar as it deals with an approach that gives substance to capitalism by looking inside its system for the fundamental laws, whereas peripheries are only ad hoc and over-determined configurations.Second, the development perspective is brought out as a constituent generality of capitalism that declines in specific trajectories of the sub-fordism variety. …”

Antibiotic cycling versus mixing: The difficulty of using mathematicalmodels to definitively quantify their relative merits by Robert E. Beardmore, Rafael Peña-Miller

    Published 2010-09-01
“…As a result, we agree with the tenet of Bonhoefer et al. [1] that one should not apply the results of [2] to conclude that an antibiotic cycling policy that implements cycles of drug restriction and prioritisation on an ad-hoc basis can select against drug-resistant microbial pathogens in a clinical setting any better than random drug use. …”

A New Universal Formula of Degree of Freedom for Planar Mechanism by Han Qing, Li Tiancheng

    Published 2015-01-01
“…Without taking into account of redundant constraints, common constraints and isolated degree of freedom(DOF),the traditional DOF calculation formulas are inefficient in calculating the DOF of planar mechanism in certain complicated cases. In addition, recalculating is needed when the configuration of mechanisms is changed. To solve these problems,a novel universal formula of DOF for planar mechanisms is presented based on the effectiveness impact of the components on the relation of input and output motion of mechanism. The algebraic relationship between redundant constraints, common constraints, partial DOF and the DOF of mechanism is studied respectively. The valid components, valid loops and higher pairs are defined as formula variables. The new formula does not need to calculate compound hinges and lower pairs and overcomes the invalidity of traditional formulas, which can be used directly for all kinds of planar mechanisms. In addition,by defining valid loops of mechanisms, the new formula emphasizes the impact of components, the basic unit of mechanisms,on the DOF of mechanism, which can avoid recalculating when the configuration of mechanisms is slightly changed.Contrast examples are presented to show the simplicity and validity of the new formula, which can be applied to ad-hoc planar mechanisms that couldn’t be solved by traditional formulas.…”

You Take Care of the Drive, I Take Care of the Rule: A Traffic-Rule Awareness System Using Vehicular Sensors and Mobile Phones by Xing Zhang, Jidong Zhao, Jinchuan Tang, Bang Liu

    Published 2012-12-01
“…There are three advantages of vehicle regulation: (1) without worrying about violations of traffic rules and searching for traffic signs, drivers can pay more attention on emergency situations, such as jaywalking. (2) Many traffic violations are due to attention distraction; machines do not have the attention issues; therefore they can provide good traffic-rule obeying. (3) New traffic rules can be spread and applied more quickly and effectively through the Internet or Vehicular Ad hoc NETworks (VANETs). In this paper, we propose a novel traffic-rule awareness system using vehicular sensors and mobile phones. …”
