The Single Leg Squat Test: A “Top-Down” or “Bottom-Up” Functional Performance Test?
Published 2021-04-01“… # Conclusions Failure on the SLST is not related to differences in clinical measures of active dorsiflexion ROM or foot posture in young, healthy individuals. These findings suggest that clinicians may continue using the SLST to assess neuromuscular performance of the trunk, hip, and knee without ankle dorsiflexion ROM or foot posture contributing to results…”

Black Hole Accretion and Spin-up through Stellar Collisions in Dense Star Clusters
Published 2025-01-01“…If all stellar-mass black holes are initially nonspinning, we find that up to 40% of merging binary black holes may have components with dimensionless spin parameter χ ≳ 0.2 because of prior stellar collisions, while typically about 10% have spins near χ = 0.7 from prior black hole mergers. We demonstrate that young star clusters are especially important environments, as they can produce collisions of black holes with very massive stars, allowing for significant spin-up of the black holes through accretion. …”

Emissions of Nitrous Oxide and Nitric Oxide from Soils of Native and Exotic Ecosystems of the Amazon and Cerrado Regions of Brazil
Published 2001-01-01“…Although a doubling or tripling of N2O has been observed in some young (<2 years) cattle pastures relative to mature forests, most Amazonian pastures have lower emissions than the forests that they replace, indicating that forest-topasture conversion has, on balance, probably reduced regional emissions slightly (<10%). …”

Precise and interpretable neural networks reveal epigenetic signatures of aging across youth in health and disease
Published 2025-01-01“…Additionally, we developed a suite of interpretable NCAE-Age neural network classifiers tailored for adolescence and young adulthood. These clocks can accurately classify individuals at critical developmental ages in youth (AUROC = 0.953, 0.972, and 0.927, for 15, 18, and 21 years) and capture fine-grained, single-year DNAm signatures of aging that are enriched in biological processes associated with anatomic and neuronal development, immunoregulation, and metabolism. …”
