Molecular determinants of Neu5Ac binding to a tripartite ATP independent periplasmic (TRAP) transporter by Parveen Goyal, KanagaVijayan Dhanabalan, Mariafrancesca Scalise, Rosmarie Friemann, Cesare Indiveri, Renwick CJ Dobson, Kutti R Vinothkumar, Subramanian Ramaswamy

    Published 2025-02-01
“…The import of Neu5Ac by many bacteria is mediated by tripartite ATP-independent periplasmic (TRAP) transporters. We have previously reported the structures of SiaQM, a membrane-embedded component of the Haemophilus influenzae TRAP transport system, (Currie et al., 2024). …”

FNDC5/irisin mitigates the cardiotoxic impacts of cancer chemotherapeutics by modulating ROS-dependent and -independent mechanisms by Manish Kumar, Abhishek Singh Sengar, Anushree Lye, Pranesh Kumar, Sukhes Mukherjee, Dinesh Kumar, Priyadip Das, Suvro Chatterjee, Adele Stewart, Biswanath Maity

    Published 2025-03-01
“…Intriguingly, we identified two parallel signaling cascades impacted by FNDC5 in cardiomyocytes: the ROS-driven intrinsic mitochondrial apoptosis pathway and the ROS-independent Ataxia Telangiectasia and Rad3-Related Protein (ATR)/Checkpoint Kinase 1 (Chk1) pathway. …”

Sex as an Independent Prognostic Factor in a Population-Based, Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Cohort by Marshall W Pitz, Grace Musto, Srisala Navaratnam

    Published 2013-01-01
“…BACKGROUND: Males with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tend to experience worse outcomes, as do those with nonadenocarcinoma histology; however, the independent effects of these factors remain unclear.…”

Choice of Measurement Locations of Nonlinear Structures Using Proper Orthogonal Modes and Effective Independence Distribution Vector by T. G. Ritto

    Published 2014-01-01
“…The response of the computational model (or experimental data) is used to construct the proper orthogonal modes applying the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD), and the effective independence distribution vector (EIDV) procedure is employed to eliminate, iteratively, locations that contribute less for the independence of the target proper orthogonal modes.…”

Obesity and fibromyalgia are associated with Difficult-to-Treat Rheumatoid Arthritis (D2T-RA) independent of age and gender by Nicoletta Luciano, Elisa Barone, Enrico Brunetta, Alessio D’Isanto, Maria De Santis, Angela Ceribelli, Marta Caprioli, Giacomo M. Guidelli, Daniela Renna, Carlo Selmi

    Published 2025-01-01
“…The multivariate analysis confirmed the correlations of D2T-RA with disease duration (Odds ratio -OR- 1.06, 95% confidence interval -CI—1.03–1.09; p < 0.0001), baseline erosions (OR 2.73, 95% CI 1.28–5.82; p = 0.009), obesity (OR 2.22, 95% CI 1.10–4.50; p = 0.026) and fibromyalgia (OR 3.91, 95% CI 1.76–8.70; p = 0.001), independent of age and gender. Conclusions High disease activity, baseline erosions and disease duration are significantly associated with the D2T phenotype of RA while we confirm the importance of obesity and fibromyalgia.…”
