Breaking Undular and Breaking Surges Advancing in Still Water by Feidong Zheng, Xueyi Li

    Published 2023-01-01
“…It was observed that the transition from a breaking undular surge to a breaking surge occurred as the ratio of the mean water depth behind the surge to the still water depth equal to 1.68–1.71. Empirical expressions based on the experimental data were proposed to predict the wave amplitude and wave steepness of breaking undular surges. …”

CIRCULATION OF MILITARY KNOWLEDGE: THE FRENCH AND DANISH MILITARY REFORMS OF COMTE DE SAINT-GERMAIN IN THE LATE 18TH CENTURY by Hanna Sonkajärvi

    Published 2025-01-01
“…His French (1775-1777) and Danish (1762-1767) military reforms stood at the junction of two paradoxical ideals which preoccupied French military thinkers in the second half of the 18th century: on the one hand, there was an increasing awareness within the army that the military needed to be professionalized; however, this was not to lead to an equal treatment of all nobles, or of all military personnel within the army. …”

Représentation de l’espace et du temps dans le modèle situationnel construit par un lecteur by Yves Bestgen

    Published 2008-04-01
“…The main objective of this paper is to confront our knowledge concerning the role of these two dimensions during the construction of the situation model in order to propose new hypotheses regarding the impact of spatial adverbials on this process. A second and equally important objective is determining how the conclusions resulting from empirical research about space and time fit in with the two main views describing the cognitive processes underlying comprehension: the constructivist and the memory-based views.…”

Outage probability based power allocation and relay selection algorithm in cooperative communication by Li-yue SUN, Xiao-hui ZHAO, Ming GUO

    Published 2013-10-01
“…The relay selection and power optimization of multi-relay cooperative communication network under a joint sum power constraint was considered.A low complexity lay selection and power allocation algorithm was also pro-posed in amplify-and-forward cooperative network aiming at minimizing the probability of system outage. In this scheme, optimal power allocation among source and relay nodes was conducted.According to the SNR,an optimal relay node set was selected and a power allocation factor leading to lower system outage probability was obtained by steepest descent method. This algorithm did not need large quantity of l statistical information and equal power condition. It can obtain the best set of relay nodes under optimal power allocation only by solving the arranged matrix on the basis of Sig-nal to Noise Ratio.Simulation results show that the proposed relay select and power allocation algorithm, under the same conditions, compared in the outage probability in erent relay node set among several algorithms, achieves better performance in outage probability and power efficiency.…”
