Ultrasonic Extraction-Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry for Determination of Eight Organophosphorus Flame Retardants in Coatings by ZHANG Ying, LI Yi, CHEN Yezi, WANG Xutao

    Published 2022-01-01
“…A method for the simultaneous determination of eight organophosphorus flame retardants (OPFRs) in coatings is developed with ultrasonic extraction for preprocessing and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).The comparison and optimization of experimental conditions in the ultrasonic extraction process indicate that acetone should be taken as the extraction solvent, and the extraction temperature and time should be set to 30 ℃ and 15 min, respectively;when the extraction is repeated twice, the recovery is good.Quantitative analysis is performed by GC-MS with selective ion scanning, with the linear range of the standard preparation curves being 10~1 000 ng/mL.The results demonstrate that the correlation coefficients of linear regression equations for eight OPFRs are not less than 0.990 4.The detection limits of the method are between 0.04 and 0.26 ng/mL,with the recovery of 79.3%~112.0%,and the relative standard deviations are less than or equal to 6.4%.The application of the method to the determination of OPFRs in coating products from five enterprises shows that TCEP is detected in samples of only one enterprise, with a concentration of 15.22 ng/mL.…”

Passional Atheism, Passional Agnosticism and ‘The Will to Believe’ by Daniel Molto

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Jack Warman and Joshua Cockayne have recently claimed that the arguments that William James provides in his famous lecture ‘The Will to Believe’ to justify passional theism would equally justify passional atheism. They are correct in this claim, but there is in fact more than one way that a non-theistic doxastic attitude can be passionally justified given what is said in James’s lecture. …”

Miniaturized Wide Scanning Angle Phased Array Using EBG Structure for 5G Applications by Xiumei Shen, Kun Xue, Xinggang Tang, Yuqi He

    Published 2022-01-01
“…A subarray of two closely packed patch antennas on electromagnetic bandgap structure (EBG) ground with the operating bandwidth of 26–29 GHz is used as the basic module of the linear array, which contains four equally spaced subarrays. The existence of the EBG ground enables the array to be compact in size (3.2 × 0.6 × 0.12λL3), yet the mutual coupling between each element can reach to more than 22 dB within the whole band of interest. …”

Mobilizing the Rights of Homeless EU Citizens in the Netherlands by Dion Kramer

    Published 2024-08-01
“…By marking them as so-called niet-rechthebbenden (“non-rightholders”), Dutch municipalities have systematically denied homeless EU citizens access to overnight shelters and general homelessness services on equal footing as Dutch citizens. This legal and practical deadlock—a classic case of non-compliance through “law in action”—has most probably led to a denial of rights to EU citizens entitled to shelter as permanent residents, (former) workers, or otherwise legally residing EU citizens. …”

Speaker verification method based on cross-domain attentive feature fusion by Zhen YANG, Tianlang WANG, Haiyan GUO, Tingting WANG

    Published 2023-08-01
“…Aiming at the problem that the lack of structure information among speech signal sample in the front-end acoustic features of speaker verification system, a speaker verification method based on cross-domain attentive feature fusion was proposed.Firstly, a feature extraction method based on the graph signal processing (GSP) was proposed to extract the structural information of speech signals, each sample point in a speech signal frame was regarded as a graph node to construct the speech graph signal and the graph frequency information of the speech signal was extracted through the graph Fourier transform and filter banks. Then, an attentive feature fusion network with the residual neural network and the squeeze-and- excitation block was proposed to fuse the features in the traditional time-frequency domain and those in the graph frequency domain to promote the speaker verification system performance. Finally, the experiment was carried out on the VoxCeleb, SITW, and CN-Celeb datasets. The experimental results show that the proposed method performs better than the baseline ECAPA-TDNN model in terms of equal error rate (EER) and minimum detection cost function (min-DCF).…”
